Some information to look over

Spruce Creek High School has 35 students who are actively participating on our Robotics Team. Our school sponsored a Botball Robotics team last year with 18 students. We participated in Regionals and Nationals. Since we have so much interest and parental support we felt that we should also give our students the many opportunities that FIRST participation offers. We are the first and only FIRST team in Volusia County. We would like to take the lead role in introducing robotics to the other high schools in our district.

Spruce Creek High School has a very strong academic focus and a very active parental support network. The students who have signed up for robotics competition are very dedicated and willing to work long hours to achieve their goals. The parents have been very supportive in fundraising, providing transportation, providing food and drink and encouragement. The faculty sponsors are also prepared to dedicate the time and support necessary for the students to be successful in this endeavor. This combination will help ensure that our students achieve our definition of success.

Success for our team will be defined by the experience of building and getting the robot to competition, not necessarily our team’s placement at the competition. The most important things for us are the teamwork, relationships built and the lessons learned during the building and testing periods.
